A construction worker by the name of Andrew Sullivan is interviewed in Fox News and tells it like it is; there will be no union trade people working on the proposed Allah Akbar Attah Victory Memorial Mosque in Ground Zero territory.



Mr. Sullivan also mentioned a website, BlueCollarCorner.com, which states:

This show is dedicated to all those people who break their backs to provide for themselves and their families.

Without this group citizens would not be able to get to work or even have an office to work in.

More than anything these people are the ones that pay the bills that make this government run for whom without they would be no schools no hospitals no fire department or police department to protect and serve the people of this great nation.

This particular demographic has been forgotten. Only because we aren’t traditionally the rebel rousers we tend to live work hard and pray our leadership does the right thing.

Due to recent events the very principals by which our country was founded on are being either ignored or totally altered until it has become unrecognizable.

There's a lot more where this came from.Check this site out and support their efforts. Hopefully this is only the tip of the groundswell that will sweep the thieves and traitors out of Washington.

Indeed, for far too long we have remained silent while we smoldered; struggling to make ends meet while politicians take what we earn by the sweat of our brow and give it to those whom they wish to curry favor in exchange for political advantage. This cannot and must not continue, for now our very freedoms are threatened and the livelihood of our children and grandchildren are at risk.

Thursday's Supreme Court 5-4 decision on Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was a political tsunami that has weakened the foundations of the McCain-Finegold restrictions on political speech.

Can the government suppress free speech critical of elected politicians? In the home of the First Amendment, that may seem an unusual question to pose. But that was the question before the Supreme Court this week, as it handed down a landmark ruling in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court struck down a ban on corporations and labor unions using money from their general funds to produce and air campaign ads in races for Congressional and presidential races. Also overturned was a ban on corporations and unions airing campaign ads 30 days before primary or 60 days before general election.

The case in question dates back to January 2008, when the conservative non-profit group Citizens United produced a documentary critical of then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton titled Hillary: The Movie. When the Federal Election commission used the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law to limit Citizen United’s ability to advertise the film during the 2008 presidential primaries, the group sued to protest the restriction on free speech.

This week, the Supreme Court ruled in Citizen United’s favor. In so doing, it won approval from free-speech advocates and strident criticism from many on the political Left.

The libs are going ballistic as their influence will be diluted; corporate donations will now be able to challenge the power of unions and special interests that cater to the political left. It's as if the bottom flap on the Democrat's Dr. Denton's pj's have suddenly been ripped open.

Rush Limbaugh's site has this to say about the Supreme's decision (Rush is quoting a Washington Post article).

It all started with David Bossie, "a veteran Republican campaign operative who made his mark investigating the Clintons, thought his group could offer a conservative answer to Michael Moore’s successful films. After Moore’s 'Fahrenheit 9/11' premiered in 2004, Bossie’s Citizens United group released 'Celsius 41.11.'And after it became clear that Bossie’s longtime enemy Hillary Rodham Clinton would run for president, Citizens United released another flick: 'Hillary: The Movie.' Featuring a who’s-who cast of right-wing commentators, the 2008 film takes viewers on a savaging journey through Clinton’s scandals. The sole compliment about the then-senator comes from conservative firebrand Ann Coulter: 'Looks good in a pantsuit.' But 'Hillary: The Movie' never became a blockbuster. The Federal Election Commission restricted Citizens United’s ability to advertise the film during the 2008 primary season, a decision that Bossie and other conservative activists saw as a threat to their freedom of speech. 'The marketplace for my movie was completely and totally shut down by the Federal Election Commission,' Bossie said in an interview Thursday. So he sued -- and thus was born Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

"Bossie said Ted Olson was 'singularly responsible for our winning this case.' Olson transformed the case from a narrow one about McCain-Feingold to an assault on the law's constitutionality, helping crystallize the issue for the justices. When the Supreme Court first heard the case in March, Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm L. Stewart, representing the FEC --" this is Obama's lawyer "-- was pulled into a discussion of an issue that took him down a slippery slope: If the movie were a book, would the government ban publishing the book if it mentioned a candidate for office within the election timeframe?" And this guy representing the FEC said, yes, the government would ban the book, and the justices shot up, stood up and said what the hell are you talking about. 'That's pretty incredible,' Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. said. Then came questions about electronic devices such as the Kindle. 'If it has one name, one use of the candidate's name, it would be covered, correct?' Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. asked. 'That's correct,' Stewart replied. 'It's a 500-page book, and at the end it says, 'And so vote for X,' the government could ban that?' Roberts asked." The government lawyer said yes. He had to. If he's going to ban a movie, he's gotta be consistent. "Bossie said this was the argument that turned a majority of the bench against the FEC and in favor of Citizens United."

Bear in mind that this was a "bitterly contested," 5-4 split decision.

Justices Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Kennedy and Thomas supported the reversal of the lower courts decision. Opposed were Breyer, Ginsburg, Stevens and Sotomayor. It is frightening to think that only one vote made the difference; that four out of nine Supreme Court Justices have so little regard for Constitutional freedoms (except of course for criminals and terrorists).

From the WashPost article, Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm L. Stewart, representing the FEC, doomed the government's case:

"That sent a chill down the Supreme Court," Bossie said. The argument became a "point of demarcation."

Citizens United spent about $1.25 million in legal fees on the case -- so much, Bossie said, that it "makes you cry."

But, he said, it was worth every dollar.

"We have been trying to defend our First Amendment rights for many, many years," Bossie said. "We brought the case hoping that this would happen. . . . to defeat McCain-Feingold."

And why was this so important? Our freedom is under seige from socialists and their corrupt union allies. Read what SEIU President Andy Stern had to say about the 2008 Presidential elections and how one union alone can make a diffference:

"We spent a fortune to elect Barack Obama -- $60.7 million to be exact -- and we're proud of it."

The behemoth labor organization's leadership is getting its money's worth. Whether rank-and-file workers and ordinary taxpayers are profiting from this ultimate campaign pay-for-play scheme is another matter entirely.

The two-million-member union, which represents both government and private service employees, proudly claimed that its workers "knocked on 1.87 million doors, made 4.4 million phone calls and sent more than 2.5 million pieces of mail in support of Obama." It dispatched SEIU leaders to seven states in the final weekend before the election to get out the vote for Obama and other Democrats.

Through a series of local chapter takeovers and bully campaigns to destroy the reputation of executives who refuse to submit to their will, Stern and his scandal-plagued lieutenants have consolidated low-skill service workers to create a 21st century labor empire. The ubiquitous Stern now enjoys a prominent seat at the table of every major policy discussion at the White House, including economic recovery and health care radicalization.

Congratulations Rio

After all is said and done, I wish Brazil and the people of Rio de Janeiro much luck in their hosting of the 2016 Olympic games. I pray you will avoid the snares and pitfalls that other cities have experienced and that the corrupt politicians of Chicago would have embraced.

Gird, Not Grill

It's time, my fellow patriots, to gird your loins. Things are getting dicey; there is a lot of push back from both sides and the smoke and noise are getting thick. The dems are ignoring the voices of countless millions and they do so perhaps at their own peril, but then again - perhaps not. They are emboldened by the poser in the White House.

I have never seen or heard so many pissed off people in my life. People who never expressed any political opinions before are talking about the push for government sponsored health care and the arrogance of the government.

What are we to make of this? I feel that as a country we are on the cusp. We have allowed things to get out of hand and now we are paying for it. The socialists have been gradually turning up the temperature for decades, the water is starting to roil; it will be boiling very soon.

What will the politicians do? Gauging by their past performance I think that they will go along with their leadership and ram this crap down our throats.

What will we do? Gauging from our past performance ... nothing. Oh, there may be some isolated instances of resistance, but nothing that conventional law enforcement measures can't handle. And by resistance I don't mean a few hundred thousand people marching on DC. I mean people getting hurt, or worse.

The fact that it has gone this far indicates to me that perhaps we have reached the tipping point. I sure hope I'm wrong, but too many people are receiving cash and services from the government. Far too many people feel entitled; they refuse to be responsible for their own lives and demand that others take care of their "needs." They want everything but are willing to pay nothing, not even a pittance.

If you want it, then you have a right to it. Not only a right to it, you have the the right to impose it's cost, whatever it is, on others.

Health care as proposed by the liberal democrats will boil down to this. Illegal aliens between the ages of 20 and 40 will have more access to government health resources than a 70 year old American retiree who has paid taxes all his life.

When Ya Really Need Help...

One thing about a good host is that he tries to make his guests as comfortable as possible. He cares for their needs and sees to their welfare to the best of his ability. Except when you are a former community organizer I guess. Then you expect other people in the community to fulfill your duties.

Now I don't think Sgt. Crowley should have gone to the White House. He should have let Obongo and Skippy stew in their own juices. But Sgt. Crowley is a class act. It shows in his appearances before the camera and I have the feeling that it also shows in his personal life when he is not in the public view.

Look at the following photograph; you'll see someone who obviously needs a hand and two strong, able-bodied men who are each capable of rendering assistance. Guess who is doing the assisting?

Aussie Put Down

The Aussies are waltzing away from the the global warming scam in greater numbers than before. The following is a commentary from RealClearPolitics on an article titled "Cold FActs Dispel Theories on Warming" from The Australian:

As the US Congress considers the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill, the Australian Senate is on the verge of rejecting its own version of cap-and-trade. The story of this legislation's collapse offers advance notice for what might happen to similar legislation in the US—and to the whole global warming hysteria.

Since the Australian government first introduced its Emission Tading Scheme (ETS) legislation—the Australian version of cap-and-trade energy rationing—there has been a sharp shift in public opinion and political momentum against the global warming crusade. This is a story that offers hope to defenders of industrial civilization—and a warning to American environmentalists that the climate change they should be afraid of just might be a shift in the intellectual climate.

Obama and the Democrats are pushing, pushing, pushing for cap and trade restrictions in order to enslave save us from a fate worse than, well, environmental slavery. The economic costs of cap and trade are stunning and the Aussies are pushing back.

There is rising recognition that introduction of a carbon tax under the guise of "cap and trade" will be personally costly, economically disruptive to society and tend to shift classes of jobs offshore. Moreover, despite rising carbon dioxide concentrations, global warming seems to have taken a holiday.

The science of global warming is claimed to be too complex for the public to comprehend and judge. We are continually being told to take and act on the advice of the consensus of IPCC experts; the dissenters are no more than paid mouthpieces of industry or worse.

Nevertheless, the public and their representatives are showing innate common sense.

The Australian Senate is poised to reject the "cap and trade" legislation designed by the Rudd Government to implement the Orwellian carbon pollution reduction scheme; it is unlikely the US Senate will ratify similar legislation to limit carbon dioxide emissions any time soon, despite the rhetoric of Barack Obama; and the UN's post-Kyoto dreamsof global industrial regulation are destined to fail in Copenhagen later this year.

There is a new book out this year, Heaven and Earth, written by an Australian geologist, Professor Ian Plimer. This book has influenced some critical thinkers in Australia who were formerly advocate of anthropic global warming. A review of the book states thusly:

The book's 500 pages and 230,000 words and 2311 footnotes are the product of 40 years' research and a depth and breadth of scholarship. As Plimer writes: "An understanding of climate requires an amalgamation of astronomy, solar physics, geology, geochronology, geochemistry, sedimentology, tectonics, palaeontology, palaeoecology, glaciology, climatology, meteorology, oceanography, ecology, archaeology and history."

The most important point to remember about Plimer is that he is Australia's most eminent geologist. As such, he thinks about time very differently from most of us. He takes the long, long view. He looks at climate over geological, archaeological, historical and modern time. He writes: "Past climate changes, sea-level changes and catastrophes are written in stone."

Much of what we have read about climate change, he argues, is rubbish, especially the computer modelling on which much current scientific opinion is based, which he describes as "primitive". Errors and distortions in computer modelling will be exposed in time. As if on cue, the United Nations' peak scientific body on climate change was obliged to make an embarrassing admission last week that some of its computers models were wrong.)

Tthis is not really an issue of science but of political will. There is a great deal more to read from these sources. But the end result in Australia?

The political impact has been manifested in a series of climb-downs as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's government has been forced to delay its plans for cap-and-trade controls. On May 4, the government announced it would postpone the onset of the scheme until mid-2011, a year later than originally planned.

On June 4, this delayed emission trading scheme passed the House of Representatives despite a vote against it by the opposition. But it now faces almost certain defeat in the Australian Senate. Whereas the Labor government controls 32 votes in the Senate, the opposition Liberal-National coalition controls 37 and is committed to vote against it if the Rudd government will not grant more time to consider the outcome of the Copenhagen climate conference in December and US Senate deliberations. This itself is a compromise position, because many of the coalition parliamentarians now want to vote unconditionally against an ETS in any form.

It's not a victory, not yet.

Politicians and Management of the Big 3 are both infected with the same entitlement mentality that has spread like cancerous germs in 20 UAW halls for the last countless decades, and whose plague is now sweeping this nation, awaiting our new "messiah," Pres-elect Obama, to wave his magic wand and make all our problems go away, while at the same time allowing our once great nation to keep "living the dream." Believe me folks, The dream is over!

This dream where we can ignore the consumer for years while management myopically focuses on its personal rewards packages at the same time that our factories have been filled with the worlds most overpaid, arrogant, ignorant and laziest entitlement minded "laborers" without paying the price for these atrocities. This dream where you still think the masses will line up to buy our products for ever and ever.

Don't even think about telling me I'm wrong. Don't accuse me of not knowing of what I speak. I have called on Ford, GM, Chrysler, TRW, Delphi, Kelsey Hayes, American Axle, and countless other automotive OEM's throughout the Midwest , during the past 30 years and what I've seen over those years in these union shops can only be described as disgusting.

Troy Clarke, President of General Motors North America, states: "There is widespread sentiment throughout this country, and our government, and especially via the news media, that the current crisis is completely the result of bad management which it certainly is not." You're right Mr. Clarke, it's not JUST management.

How about the electricians who walk around the plants like lords in feudal times, making people wait on them for countless hours while they drag ass so they can come in on the weekend and make double and triple time for a job they easily could have done within their normal 40 hour work week.

How about the line workers who threaten newbies with all kinds of scare tactics for putting out too many parts on a shift and for being too productive.(We certainly must not expose those lazy bums who have been getting overpaid for decades for their horrific underproduction, must we?!?) Do you folks really not know about this stuff?

How about this great sentiment abridged from Mr. Clarke's sad plea: "over the last few years we have closed the quality and efficiency gaps with our competitors." What the hell has Detroit been doing for the last 40 years?!? Did we really JUST wake up to the gaps in quality and efficiency between us and them? The K car vs. the Accord? The Pinto vs. the Civic?!? Do I need to go on? What a joke!

We are living through the inevitable outcome of the actions of the United States auto industry for decades. It's time to pay for your sins, Detroit .

I attended an economic summit last week where brilliant economist, Alan Beaulieu, from the Institute of Trend Research , surprised the crowd when he said he would not have given the banks a penny of "bailout money." "Yes, he said, this would cause short term problems," but despite what people like politicians and corporate magnates would have us believe, the sun would in fact rise the next day and the following very important thing would happen. Where there had been greedy and sloppy banks, new efficient ones would pop up. That is how a free market system works. It does work if we would only let it work."

But for some nondescript reason we are now deciding that the rest of the world is right and that capitalism doesn't work - that we need the government to step in and "save us". Save us my ass, Hell - we're nationalizing and unfortunately too many of our once fine nation's citizens don't even have a clue that this is what is really happening.

But, they sure can tell you the stats on their favorite sports teams.

Does it ever occur to ANYONE that the "competition" has been producing vehicles, EXTREMELY PROFITABLY, for decades in this country? How can that be??? Let's see. Fuel efficient. Listening to customers. Investing in the proper tooling and automation for the long haul.

Not being too complacent or arrogant to listen to Dr.. W Edwards Deming four decades ago when he taught that by adopting appropriate principles of management, organizations could increase quality and simultaneously reduce costs. Ever increased productivity through quality and intelligent planning. Treating vendors like strategic partners, rather than like "the enemy." Efficient front and back offices. Non union environment.

Again, I could go on and on, but I really wouldn't be telling anyone anything they really don't already know down deep in their hearts.

I have six children, so I am not unfamiliar with the concept of wanting someone to bail you out of a mess that you have gotten yourself into - my children do this on a weekly, if not daily basis, as I did when I was their age. I do for them what my parents did for me (one of their greatest gifts, by the way) - I make them stand on their own two feet and accept the consequences of their actions and work through it. Radical concept, huh. Am I there for them in the wings? Of course - but only until such time as they need to be fully on their own as adults.

I don't want to oversimplify a complex situation, but there certainly are unmistakable parallels here between the proper role of parenting and government. Detroit and the United States need to pay for their sins.

Bad news people - it's coming whether we like it or not the newly elected Messiah really doesn't have a magic wand big enough to "make it all go away." I laughed as I heard Obama "reeling it back in" almost immediately after the final vote count was tallied. "We really might not do it in a year or in four." Where the Hell was that kind of talk when he was RUNNING for office.

Stop trying to put off the inevitable folks. That house in Florida really isn't worth $750,000. People who jump across a border really don't deserve free health care benefits. That job driving that forklift for the Big 3 really isn't worth $85,000 a year. We really shouldn't allow Wal-Mart to stock their shelves with products acquired from a country that unfairly manipulates their currency and has the most atrocious human rights infractions on the face of the globe. That couple whose combined income is less than $50,000 really shouldn't be living in that $485,000 home.

Let the market correct itself folks - it will.. Yes it will be painful, but it's gonna' be painful either way, and the bright side of my proposal is that on the other side of it all, is a nation that appreciates what it has and doesn't live beyond its means and gets back to basics and redevelops the patriotic work ethic that made it the greatest nation in the history of the world and probably turns back to God..

Sorry - don't cut my head off, I'm just the messenger sharing with you the "bad news". I hope you take it to heart.

There's A Storm Abrewing

Lotsa stuff today. The Chicago Traders Market wants to have another Boston Tea Party, instead of tea they'll throw worthless derivatives into Lake Michigan.

It's CNBC but take a look anyway. The traders are angry that Obama is rewarding bad behavior by subsidizing losers' mortgages; lowering the mortgage rate isn't going to help either- 40% of these bad mortgages can't be saved if the rate drops to -2%, these people should never had mortgages in the first place.

Even the Messiah's own administration is lowering expectations on what the stimulus package can or can't do. From the Investor's Business Daily:

Seven-hundred eighty-seven billion dollars apparently doesn't go as far as it used to. Even before the ink was dry on the stimulus bill, the president and his deputies were hinting it may not work as promised.

[...]Now with the $787 billion on the books — an amount greater than the entire federal budget in 1982 — the administration is suddenly in full expectation-lowering mode, throwing out strong hints that it may have to go back for second helpings in a matter of months.

"Signing Stimulus, Obama Doesn't Rule Out More," is how the New York Times put it. And, indeed, Obama sounded almost dour about the bill he had so aggressively pushed to get passed.

I guess a trillion dollars just don't go as far as it used to. And maybe with the new Tea Party they can remember to toss that useless, lying asswipe Roland Burris into the Lake also. From the Chicago Tribune:

Sen. Roland "Tombstone" Burris (D-Lying Weasel) insisted he was the Real Roland Burris, which must mean that some sneaky impostor is out there, doing evil deeds in our senator's name.

Yet Real Roland or Fake Roland, nobody believed him, because he's such a weasel who didn't tell the truth to a state impeachment committee about discussing fundraising for the former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, as part of a deal to have Blago appoint Burris to fill the Senate seat of President Barack Obama.

If he had told the truth, he wouldn't be senator today, and as he chattered on about how Democratic ward bosses really love him, a Democrat in the crowd whispered to me.

"What's Barack saying? Where's House Speaker Michael J. Madigan? Their silence is deafening," the guy said. "What are they saying?"

Nothing.

Burris is in such a deep hole that Chicago Race Baiters Religious Association pastors are now trying to get him to resign:

CHICAGO - A Chicago minister tells The Associated Press he and other black pastors who previously supported Sen. Roland Burris now plan to ask him to resign.

The minister spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because a meeting with Burris hadn't yet been scheduled. He says the senator can no longer serve effectively.

In Phoenix, AZ, high school seniors mocked Obama's economic incentives. They just don't believe him. They have more sense as 18 year old students than the entire Democratic caucus in Congress.

"Overall I think it's a good idea, but he's not addressing the issues of the economic crisis," said Daudfar, a John McCain supporter who added he leans more toward being a moderate conservative. "The spending bill he just passed is just progressing the Democratic agenda rather than addressing the economic issues in the country."

Daudfar thinks Obama's plan is backward and deals with the "less important stuff" first. "Bailing out businesses" and "providing better regulatory systems for giving out money to businesses" should have been first, he said.

"If businesses can't afford to hire people, then people won't be able to work and pay off their mortgages," he said. "It's kind of like putting money into a funnel."

It's exactly like putting money into the crapper, Daudfar. And the stock market agrees witht he high school kids and not the so called economic hot shots in Washington. Today the Dow closed at a six year low and just about every other indicator is also in the crapper like Daudfar's funnel.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Dow industrials closed at a more than six-year low on Thursday as investor fears that banks could be nationalized drove their stocks to a 17-year low and a rise in the number people receiving jobless benefits to a record high stoked worries about the deepening recession.

After several near misses this week, blue chips blew through the November 20 bear market closing low in late trade, erasing a year-end rally built on hopes a new president would successfully tackle the deepening recession.

The Nasdaq fared the worst of the three major indexes after a disappointing outlook from Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ.N) sent its stock down almost 8 percent and dragged down other technology shares, Hewlett-Packard, the world's largest PC maker, which warned its expects weak market conditions to persist, was also the Dow's biggest negative weight.

Yeeeehaw, ride the lightning.

Obama deserves our thanks for letting Republicans root for him, as well. He has created a space within his wide net of support for those of us who fought for John McCain’s candidacy by honoring the McCains at a dinner the night before his inauguration and by listening to McCain’s ideas on national security, climate change, and government reform.

The Obamas have also returned the civility and warmth directed at them by president and Mrs. Bush in a way that sets this transition apart from others in recent history. This generosity of spirit has had a ripple effect throughout Republican circles. Two former senior aides to President George W. Bush said to me over the weekend, “I expect him [President Obama] to be there for eight years.”

This is truly sickening. How in the world can we trust the Republicans for anything anymore?

Gary Graham

There is a new, conservative, Hollywood based blog out there. It is called Big Hollywood and it is a creation of Andrew Brietbart. Here, conservative actors, screenwriters and other people who work in the entertainment industry can air their opinions. One of them is Gary Graham.

I’m an American. This has always been my favorite label, but of late even that has seemed to mean less and less. Being called an American used to carry with it a certain pride and esprit de corps that now apparently is dated and passe. How else can one explain the rash of America-haters in our midst who only claim pride in America if a Leftist resides in the White House, and can only back a war effort if the decision to go to war was that of a Democrat.

I’m a Conservative. And I am also an actor who lives and works in Hollywood. Many of my friends advise me to keep that on the down-low, advise me to not speak up lest I scuttle any future employment prospects, so predominantly liberal is the entertainment biz. And yet I persist.

You see, I’m one pissed-off dude.

Illinois - The Sewer of American Politics

I had a bit of a argument with a relative on Chrsitmas. He suffers from a moderate case of Bush Derangement Syndrome that he caught from PBS and MSM programming. One of my responses was that I do not trust Obama because he comes form one of the most corrupt political environments inthe country.

Like all BDS suffers, this relative is data impaired and started off on how Texas (obvious reference to Bush) and California (I guess the reference is to Arnold?) are just as corrupt. I bought to his attention that four of the last eight Illinois governors have been arrested and three served prison sentences. What other State in the NAtions has that distinction? Certainly not Texas or California.

The conversation ended when when he that he was sick of this and left the house. Our realtionship has always been strained but even my wife has had enough.

I went looking for references to Illinois political corruption and you don't have to go far. Even one of the most liberal media outlets in the country, MSNBC, remarked on the stench from Illinois politics.

Illinois’ official slogan is the “Land of Lincoln,” but an equally apt descriptor would be the “Land of Greased Palms.”

The state, Cook County and its governmental seat, Chicago, have a long history of corruption by elected and appointed officials.

The culture of corruption dates back to the late 19th century, when a gambling-house owner named Michael Cassius McDonald created the city's first political machine, establishing a model in which officials would distribute contracts, jobs and social services in exchange for political support, according to a scholarly history of organized crime in Chicago by Robert Lombardo, a sociology professor and former Chicago and Cook County police officer.

Its persistence was documented in Sept. 7, 2006 by the Chicago Sun-Times, which reported that at least 79 current or former Illinois, Chicago or Cook County elected officials had been found guilty of a crime by judges, juries or their own pleas since 1972. The paper provided this tally of the tarnished: three governors, two other state officials, 15 state legislators, two congressmen, one mayor, three other city officials, 27 aldermen, 19 Cook County judges and seven other Cook County officials.

The article noted that so many aldermen had been jailed that the newspaper ran a front-page-story in 1991 when the year passed with none being indicted or convicted.

This is Obama's playground. A cesspool of brbibery and corruption. Obama's Chief of Staff , Rahm Emanuel, left the congressional seat previously held by Rod Blagojevich until his election as Illinois Governor in 2002.

This is one of the main reasons why the thought of this man in the nation's highest elected office gives me chills. And these aren't tingles running up and down my leg ala Matthews.

A Chilly Reception

In advance of the 8"-11" of snow we are expecting tomorrow, Ms. Caroline Kennedy did not receive an effusive Upstate welcome this morning.

In fact, from the local news it appeared that she was about as welcome as the heavy snows we're expecting. News Channel 10 has several interviews with people who were less than enthralled about Kennedy's bid for a Senate seat. The same theme seems to resonate - We don't need another warm body with nothing but a last name to represent us.

In addition, Kennedy allegedly blew off Syracuse reporters. I guess when she staryedther upstate "listening tour" she decided that she didn't need to listen to members of the hometown press and electronic media.

This is not the way to ingratiate yourself and become a local media darling unless she feels that she doesn't need any upstate support because:

1) she expects to be appointed by the Governor so who cares what upstate NY thinks, and

2) if and when she runs for the office in 2010, she will have the massive downstate vote so who cares what upstate NY thinks.

Either way, this chick is definitely a NYC elite and who cares what upstate NY thinks?

What do I think? I think it stinks. Another do nothing know nothing society suit who thinks she deserves something.
She is a lawyer but doesn't do any lawyering.
She wrote a book on the Constitution, but has done nothing to defend or strengthen it.
She talks about her father and manages his foundation.
She raises money that is pissed away on liberal causes.
Whatta life.

And while I'm dealing with the Governor's choice for Senator, Gov. Paterson just proposed sweeping increases in taxes and fees to make up the State's deficit - but also increased spending by $1.4 billion. So we're in line for a new Senator whose primary job experience is helping other people piss money away and she'll be appointed by a governor who does the same thing.

Is this a great state or what?

NEW YORK (CBS) Caroline Kennedy took a page from Hillary Clinton's playbook and began an upstate listening tour On Wednesday. The road trip included stops in Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo to help convince Gov. David Paterson and voters she's the one to replace Clinton in the U.S. Senate.

But it was a tough crowd.

But after meeting with Mayor Matt Driscoll, she ran into a buzz saw -- angry reporters who wanted her to do more talking and less listening. "But you've never held public office so what experience [do you have]?" one reporter asked. Actually, she did speak briefly in Syracuse.

"I wanted to come upstate and meet with Mayor Driscoll and others to tell them about my experience and also learn more about how Washington can help these communities," Kennedy said.

Her quick remarks fell flat. Reporters seemed to feel brushed off and they pursued her out. "You're not going to answer questions at all?" one asked. "Where you headed next?" another demanded.

We Don 't Need Another Kennedy

To Governor Paterson:

The very thing that this State does not need is another person whose almost sole professional experience is grubbing for money and then giving it away.

That slot was just used up by the President-elect.

While Ms. Kennedy's experience in begging for and spending other people's money may arouse the hearts of boards of directors for museums, art galleries and "save this historic blah blah blah" efforts, it does nothing for those of us who actually must work and not rely on our father's last name for a living.

Ms. Kennedy's curriculum vitae highlights her experience as:
a) Chief executive for the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the New York City Department of Education, raising over $65 million for the NYC public school system (where the graduation rate is only 43% - nice work Carol, if something is busted, just throw more money at it - actually perfect experience for our dysfunctional national legislature);

b) President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation (there's a surprise!);

c) Director of the Commission on Presidential Debates (where one of the moderators - surprise! - was writing a glowing, celebratory book about Senator Obama - nice piece of nonpartisan work Carol);

d) Director of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (as we now have a black President this entire organization is essentially meaningless and so is her position); and finally

e) Honorary Chairman of the American Ballet Theatre (Leaving No Tap Dancer Behind).

Governor Paterson, surely there must be some pretentious, important sounding and yet meaningless position to which you can appoint this woman where she can do no harm.

It's been about 2,050 years since the demise of the Roman Republic. I am starting to think I understand how some Romans felt when they heard that Julius Caesar was appointed dictator (dictator perpetuo - prior to 44 B.C. he was only a temp, a dictator interregnum).

While Bush Derangement Syndrome is still out of control we haven't had a chance to take a breath before Obama Orgasmic Syndrome takes hold.

Gail Collins of the NYT makes what she thinks is is a clever proposal: she wants President Bush and Dick Cheney to resign so that Barack Obama can take over right away. The Gateway Pundit has video of Chris Matthews proposing essentially the same thing.

Thanksgiving is next week, and President Bush could make it a really special holiday by resigning. Seriously. We have an economy that’s crashing and a vacuum at the top. Bush — who is currently on a trip to Peru to meet with Asian leaders who no longer care what he thinks — hasn’t got the clout, or possibly even the energy, to do anything useful. His most recent contribution to resolving the fiscal crisis was lecturing representatives of the world’s most important economies on the glories of free-market capitalism.

Putting Barack Obama in charge immediately isn’t impossible. Dick Cheney, obviously, would have to quit as well as Bush. In fact, just to be on the safe side, the vice president ought to turn in his resignation first. (We’re desperate, but not crazy.) Then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would become president until Jan. 20. Obviously, she’d defer to her party’s incoming chief executive, and Barack Obama could begin governing.

I am Joe. I also was a plumber of sorts. Instead of sewer pipes, I crawled around in cesspools of human depravity.

I did not unclog waste lines, I tried to unravel the mess that human beings make of things. I collected smears of brain matter and bone fragments. I photographed people who had been turned into pork rinds by fire. And I am truly pissed.

We are just starting to get a good idea of the immense political muckraking machine that lept into action as soon as some poor schmuck spoke out of line to the Annointed One in Ohio.

I am appalled at the misuse of government databases in this thinly disguised attempt to discredit and humiliate a private citizen. I use government databases at work and if I were to go on a curiousity jaunt through any of them without a legitimate reason, I could be arrested. Cancel that, I would be arrested.

The American public would have been much better served if the media had spent a tenth of the time vetting Obama as they have ripping Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher apart. There is much we do not know about the democratic candidate for President and this information is not forthcoming. The media should have vetted Obama as they did everyone else who has an "R" after their name.

But instead, we have been subjected to a never ending stream of irrelevant crap about people who cannot effect the way we live or how well we will survive the next few years.

Joe Wurzelbacher will not determine whether or not I will be able to deduct my 401k contributions from my gross income next year.

Joe will not be deciding whether or not to deploy troops to some future terrorist-ridden hell hole.

Joe will not have a say on whether or not the subprime mortgages will be allowed to continue to poison the equity markets.

Whether or not Joe has a good year will not determine how much I can help my youngest child meet her college costs.

I don't care if Joe hung around with murderous anarchists or if he screwed the pooch with a multimillion dollar education grant or if his pastor for twenty years hates America. Joe is not running for the highest elected office in the land.

It Does Matter!

You MUST read this commentary by Thomas Sowell. I wish he was running for President.

Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time."

Unfortunately, the future of this country, as well as the fate of the Western world, depends on how many people can be fooled on election day, just a few weeks from now.

Right now, the polls indicate that a whole lot of the people are being fooled a whole lot of the time.

The current financial bailout crisis has propelled Barack Obama back into a substantial lead over John McCain-- which is astonishing in view of which man and which party has had the most to do with bringing on this crisis.

It raises the question: Do facts matter? Or is Obama's rhetoric and the media's spin enough to make facts irrelevant?

Sowell makes the point that it was Dodd and Frank and the other liberal democrats who pushed for less restrictive guidelines and fought every attempt to impose fiscal responsibility on the subprime market. In 2005 these same congressmen were warned by Bush Administration officials what was happening and they were ignored.

[...]the facts show that it was the government that pressured financial institutions in general to lend to subprime borrowers, with such things as the Community Reinvestment Act and, later, threats of legal action by then Attorney General Janet Reno if the feds did not like the statistics on who was getting loans and who wasn't.

[...]Then there is the question of being against the "greed" of CEOs and for "the people." Franklin Raines made $90 million while he was head of Fannie Mae and mismanaging that institution into crisis.

Even after he was deposed as head of Fannie Mae, Franklin Raines was consulted this year by the Obama campaign for his advice on housing!
