Once More Unto The Breach, Dear Friends, Once More

What the socialists and liberal gungrabbers in government cannot do upfront, they will swing around and sneak in from behind.

The EPA is trying to ban traditional lead core ammunition by fiat, decree. Please do not let this pass by - act on this immediately!
From American and Proud:

Today, the EPA has opened to public comment the CBD petition. The comment period ends on October 31, 2010.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) — the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry — urges you to submit comment to the EPA opposing any ban on traditional ammunition. Remember, your right to choose the ammunition you hunt and shoot with is at stake.

The EPA has published the petition and relevant supplemental information as Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OPPT-2010-0681. If you would like to read the original petition and see the contents of this docket folder, please click here. In order to go directly to the ‘submit a comment’ page for this docket number, please click here.

NSSF urges you to stress the following in your opposition:

* There is no scientific evidence that the use of traditional ammunition is having an adverse impact on wildlife populations.

* Wildlife management is the proper jurisdiction of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and the 50 state wildlife agencies.

* A 2008 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on blood lead levels of North Dakota hunters confirmed that consuming game harvested with traditional ammunition does not pose a human health risk.

* A ban on traditional ammunition would have a negative impact on wildlife conservation. The federal excise tax that manufacturers pay on the sale of the ammunition (11 percent) is a primary source of wildlife conservation funding. The bald eagle’s recovery, considered to be a great conservation success story, was made possible and funded by hunters using traditional ammunition – the very ammunition organizations like the CBD are now demonizing.

* Recent statistics from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service show that from 1981 to 2006 the number of breeding pairs of bald eagles in the United States increased 724 percent. And much like the bald eagle, raptor populations throughout the United States are soaring.

Steps to take:

1. Submit comment online to the EPA.
2. Contact Lisa Jackson directly to voice your opposition to the ban:

Lisa P. Jackson
Administrator, U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency

Washington, DC 20460
(202) 564-4700
Fax: (202) 501-1450
Email: jackson.lisa@epa.gov

3. Contact your congressman and senators and urge them to stop the EPA from banning ammunition. To view a sample letter, click here.

UPDATE:
The EPA has folded and refused the request of gun control freaks to ban lead core ammo.

Killing For Jesus

Leave it to these numbnuts to get their panties in a wad over a model number. Can you believe that ABC assigned "investigators" to look into this? These guys couldn't find their asses in the dark using both hands and a hat pin.

ABC News - U.S. Military Weapons Inscribed With Secret 'Jesus' Bible Codes
Pentagon Supplier for Rifle Sights Says It Has 'Always' Added New Testament References

Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.

At the end of the serial number on Trijicon's ACOG gun sight, you can read "JN8:12", a reference to the New Testament book of John, Chapter 8, Verse 12, which reads: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." The ACOG is widely used by the U.S. military.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.

These scopes give our troops a wonderful advantage when engaged in a tactical situation. Of course the MSM is driven insane by any notion that our troops should have the finest equipment in order to kill our enemies. That just doesn't make sense to a traitor.

The killing-for-Jesus-super-secret-code found on the ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) is part of the model number as per the following photo:

So, the godbag evil war profiteers are using John 8:12 to identify part numbers? What does John 8:12 say?

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

I guess the implication is that if the ACOG is used properly, the intended target will very shortly see Jesus in a different light - so to speak. Not a bad notion for our enemies in the Near East and elsewhere to take to heart.

A H/T to Lucianne's; I really liked one of the comments by GOPJihad:

"The ACOG is an outstanding optic and the reason why various so-called "Human Rights" organizations investigated alleged "executions" of jihadis carried out by Marines in Iraq. It was assumed that because so many islamists died with single shots to the head that Marines were summarily executing them, but it was eventually realized that thanks to the ACOG, and Marine Corps marksmanship training, Marines were making head shots with their regular issue M-16A4s at ranges in excess of 300 meters."

I considered buying one of these scopes when I bought my AR15 a few years ago; the ACOG I was looking at goes for about a grand.

That way I can convert my black rifle into what GOPJihad calls, a "Jesus Rifle."

Hie Thy Ass To Remedial Pistol Training

Stolen from Exurban League as reported in CNEWS:

LONDON -- The London man who dodged 19 police bullets as he fled a robbery spree denies taking a shooting stance, insists he told the pursuing officer he was unarmed and says he was clearly visible under a street lamp.

Holy Ricochets Batman! If this fleeing felon was a Matrix agent I could perhaps understand why nineteen 9mm Happy Loads were distributed haphazardly through the streets of London at 1000 fps without hitting the intended target.
Two words - Fire Discipline. If ya can't hit the damn thing, put your pistol back in your pocket, catch your breath and have a nice cuppa while the Range Officer who trained you is subjected to ritual disembowelment.

"He (the police officer) was trying to kill me," Paul Wayne O'Connell insisted yesterday in an interview with The Free Press from the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre.

I think the officer was actually imitating the High Speed Copper and Lead Fairy, just doing his part to give good little English children their daily minimum requirement of screaming fits and shattered glass. He was followed in close proximity by the Shit Your Pants Pixie.

"But I don't want his badge or compensation. I just want to get the help I need. Drugs have wrecked my whole life. All I wanted was to get better." O'Connell said he was "hoping to get caught" last Wednesday during a five-hour robbery spree so he could get out of the drug culture and into treatment.

But he was trying to help dearie! In a hellish version of Obongo's economic stimulus package, the officer in question was also providing economic relief to London's unemployed carpenters, plasterers and glaziers and an opportunity to train emergency care doctors and nurses.

I wish Mr. O'Connell luck in his quest for sobriety. That he has survived thus far is perhaps an indication that God indeed has decided to intercede on his behalf. So I will pray to the Father of All Mercies that He will deliver Mr. O'Connell from his addictions and that the London Metropolitan Police Department will never give that officer a shotgun or hand grenades.

The Model 1917

This is my newest stimulus to the firearms industry - a nickel plated S&W mod 1917 in 45 ACP .

I bought it today and as soon as I get my permit amended I'll bring it home, probably Monday or Tuesday.

The model 1917 was introduced to supplement the 1911 semiautomatic Colt pistol during WWI. It uses moon clips to load the .45 ACP cartridge (which are rimless).

These clips can be bent, introducing primer strike problems. Therefore under combat conditions this is not the most reliable weapon to have at your side. There are .45 auto rim cartridges which do not need the clip but these are very hard to find.

From the William B. Umstead World War I Collection, North Carolina Collection Gallery, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill:

American soldiers after World War I were allowed to keep the bulk of their military gear and clothing after they were discharged. Government-issued side arms and some other items, however, had to be purchased. On the day of his discharge at Camp (now Fort) Dix, New Jersey, on April 9, 1919, Umstead paid eighteen dollars for his 45-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver (U.S. Model 1917), its holster, and belt. [...] The serial number on Umstead's revolver—12375—confirms that it was made fairly early in the weapon's production run. Smith & Wesson manufactured 169,959 Model 1917 revolvers before the United States government cancelled its contract with the company in January 1919.

In the 1950's and 1960's mail order companies were selling these WWI relics for as low as $50, perhaps even less.

It's Starting

HR 45 notwithstanding, the socialists in charge of the government are slowly turning the screws on gun owners by tightening the supply of ammunition. From Commentary:

Every year, the federal government buys massive amounts of ammunition, primarily to meet the needs of the military. For years, the government has been recouping part of its ammunition expenses by reselling the used casings to remanufacturers. In turn, these private companies take the used brass, clean it up, re-load it with powder and bullets, and sell it on the private market — largely to police departments, but to private individuals as well.

I used to "roll my own" so to speak, I reloaded my own ammo. Reloads are cheaper then new ammo as you don't need to buy the cartridge casing. Just punch out the old primer, resize it, and add new components.

Well, all that is changing. The Obama administration is changing the rules on re-selling used bullet casings. From now on, they cannot be sold for remanufacturing, but rather must be liquidated at scrap value. To guarantee used bullet casings cannot be re-used, they must be deformed beyond functionality.

These scrap items are small and cheap, but add up in bulk. Remanufacturers pay about five times what salvagers offer for the casings. The government is taking an 80% cut in revenues with this new rule — and that doesn’t count the extra effort and expense of mutilating the casings in the process.

The consequences of this change? Quite a few remanufacturers are cutting back business drastically, if not closing up shop entirely. In a time of economic crisis, this change of policy could destroy an entire industry.

Obama doesn't care about the economy, he cares about his agenda.

By removing a key element in the ammunition supply chain — the used casings — the Obama administration can, by a simple and unpublicized tweak in Defense Department policy, drive down the supply of ammunition. Even the most devout socialists must concede that the law of supply and demand is at work here: by drying up the supply of ammunition, the cost will go up. And guns with no ammunition are useless.

It isn’t just civilians who buy remanufactured ammunition. Police departments also buy and use it. So communities all across the nation will soon notice their police budgets going up as they have to purchase brand-new ammunition, at a significantly higher price.

In pursuit of his anti-firearm agenda, Obama did not need to pass any legislation. Just give some bureaucrat an order. The Shootist has more detail.

It is an end-run around Congress. They don't need to try to ban guns--they don't need to fight a massive battle to attempt gun registration, or limit "assault" weapon sales.Nope. All they have to do is limit the amount of ammunition available to the civilian market, and when bullets dry up, guns will be useless.

Think we jest?

The Shootist then lists copies of letters from the DoD to businesses that have a contract to buy the used military brass. This is one of two letters received by Georgia Arms, effectively cancelling it's contract to purchase 30,000 rounds of expended brass.

Dear Valued Customer:

Please take a moment to note important changes set forth by the Defense Logistics Agency:

Recently it has been determined that fired munitions of all calibers, shapes and sizes have been designated to be Demil code B. As a result and in conjunction with DLA's current Demil code B policy, this notice will serve as official notification which requires Scrap Venture (SV) to implement mutilation as a condition of sale for all sales of fired munitions effective immediately. This notice also requires SV to immediately cease delivery of any fired munitions that have been recently sold or on active term contracts, unless the material has been mutilated prior to sale or SV personnel can attest to the mutilation after delivery. A certificate of destruction is required in either case.

Thank you,

I guess Georgia Arms is no longer a "Valued Customer" under the Obama business plan. Georgia Arms. is the fifthest largest manuafacturer or pistol/rifle ammunition in the US. They will now probably lay off half of their workforce.

WHOA! Go here! It appears that we made enough noise to make a difference!

Dear Loyal Customers,
Thanks to your voice, DOD has rescinded the order to mutilate all spent cases as of 4:30 pm on 3/17/09. We appreciate the time and effort that you expended, together we all made a difference. We will be posting the email we received from DOD as well as any additional information within the next 12-16 hours. Thanks so much and lets get to work!!!

God And Guns

Mark Steyn has a tremendous article in the Orange County Register. I changed the word order of the title to God and Guns rather Guns and God because without the protection of God, guns alone wouldn't be enough.

Mark Steyn: Guns and God?

Hell, yes. Obama attacks two of the things that elevate the U.S. above places like Europe

[...]Indeed. Sen. Obama's remarks about poor dumb, bitter rural losers "clinging to" guns and God certainly testify to the instinctive snobbery of a big segment of the political class. But we shouldn't let it go by merely deploring coastal condescension toward the knuckledraggers. No, what Michelle Malkin calls Crackerquiddick (quite rightly – it's more than just another dreary "-gate") is not just snobbish nor even merely wrongheaded. It's an attack on two of the critical advantages the United States holds over most of the rest of the Western world. In the other G7 developed nations, nobody clings to God 'n' guns. The guns got taken away, and the Europeans gave up on churchgoing once they embraced Big Government as the new religion.

How's that working out? Compared with America, France and Germany
have been more or less economically stagnant for the past quarter-century,
living permanently with unemployment rates significantly higher than in the
United States.

Security and prosperity are gifts from God. In the Old Testament, Israel always got into big trouble whenever they pursued idols. In America today, our idols are not Baal or Set or Zeus. Our idols are materialism, entertainment and sex. We worship ourselves. Does this make us happy?

[...] In my book "America Alone," I note a global survey on optimism: 61 percent of Americans were optimistic about the future, 29 percent of the French, 15 percent of Germans. Take it from a foreigner: In my experience, Americans are the least "bitter" people in the developed world. Secular, gun-free big-government Europe doesn't seem to have done anything for people's happiness.

Well, we're a lot happier than the Europeans. But you'd never know it from the media. Or the Democrats. If you listen to either of the Democratic candidates and their cheerleaders in the media, we're all just one paycheck away from utter financial ruin because of the grasping, greedy BushHitlerCheneyEnronMilitaryIndustrialComplex.

I just went five months without a paycheck (my contract got all screwed up by people who don't care). I did it by careful fiscal management, self control and prayer. And I did it with a minimum of carping. That's the price I pay for the kind of work I do.

And I am not saying that there aren't greedy capitalists out there. There are a ton of them and it is getting worse. The FBI has twice the number of financial crimes under investigation than in the past five years. There are white collar crooks bilking citizens and businesses out of billions of dollars every year. What I am saying is that we are living in evil times - we always are. Plan for it and act accordingly.

As for "gun-totin'," large numbers of Americans tote guns because they're assertive, self-reliant citizens, not docile subjects of a permanent governing class. The Second Amendment is philosophically consistent with the First Amendment, for which I've become more grateful since the Canadian Islamic Congress decided to sue me for "hate speech" up north. Both amendments embody the American view that liberty is not the gift of the state, and its defense cannot be outsourced exclusively to the government.

I think a healthy society needs both God and guns: It benefits from a belief in some kind of higher purpose to life on Earth, and it requires a self-reliant citizenry. If you lack either of those twin props, you wind up with today's Europe – a present-tense Eutopia mired in fatalism.

Assertive and self reliant - words definitively not in the liberal lexicon. I own firearms not because I want to use them, but because I might have to use them. Every massacre perpetuated by government in the past century only occurred after the citizenry was disarmed.

In the 20th Century:
Governments murdered four times as many civilians as were killed in all the international and domestic wars combined.
Governments murdered millions more people than were killed by common criminals.
How could governments kill so many people? The governments had the power - and the people, the
victims, were unable to resist. The victims were unarmed.

Every member of my family knows how to operate a firearm. God protect us all from ever needing to use them in a crisis situation. But God help us if we are not prepared.

500 Magnum

This is a picture of a S&W 500 Magnum in the act of farting out a 440 grain hunk-a-luv at 1625 fps and at 2,580 ft-lbs of energy.

In comparison, the 7.62mm (.308) NATO round, a 148gr grain bullet delivers 2,486 ft.lbs of energy.

This is what makes a bear shit in the woods.

It would make me shit in Starbucks during the noon rush hour.

And here it is again.

I haven't seen flames that big coming out of an opening that small since little Tommy Flavin lit a bare assed fart at Boy Scout camp after bean burrito night and fried his butthole.
