Rubber Band Gun

This is the rubber band gun I made for my grandson. Kinda nice, no? It is made entirely from wood. I'll give it to him on his birthday this Sunday.

The rubber band is stretched from the front sight blade through the groove cut in the A2 style handle and is slipped over the sleeve located just above and to the rear of the trigger guard.

It is fired by using your thumb to slid the rubber band off the sleeve. Or you can just hold it against the lower assembly with your thumb and then release it. This is my first attempt and I am already thinking of some design enhancements.

The purists out there will scoff at the front sight, but hey... it's for a six year old. It needs to be rather robust.
