I Agree, Home Depot Stinks

From MSNBC:

ATLANTA - Home Depot Chief Executive Frank Blake was grilled Thursday by investors, who also shop in his company’s stores, on the retailer’s commitment to customer service.

Several shareholders spoke at the Atlanta-based company’s annual meeting about poor experiences in Home Depot stores. They said some employees don’t seem well-trained in the store’s products, and they also criticized the performance of people who do home installations for the company.

We bought carpeting and new doors from Home Depot. I will never give them any business again where I need something installed. It took those incompetent idiots three years of fumbling with my carpet ($3,500 worth, they did almost the whole downstairs) before I finally got disgusted enough to give up. I also had to fix the install on the two new screen doors (a $500 purchase).

In order to maximize their profits, they award the installation contracts to the lowest bidders. These low bidders can only make $$$ if they rush like crazy from one job to another. Or the manager hires his friends and relatives who don't know one end of a hammer from the other.

You get what you pay for.
