Organ donation has become a vital way to save lives around the world, but a vast shortage of donors continues to mean people are losing their lives while on waiting lists. But there is a unique proposal that could change all that. New York State Assemblyman Richard Brodsky nearly lost his daughter, Willie, at 4 years old when she needed a kidney transplant, and again 10 years later when her second kidney failed. "We have 10,000 New Yorkers on the list today waiting for organs. We import half the organs we transplant. It is an unacceptable failed system," Brodsky said.

After 16 years in Congress and only a week after calling newly installed Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown a joke, Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy is calling it quits.

Rhode Island Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy will retire after eight terms in office, bringing an end to his House career just months after his father, legendary Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy, passed away.

"My father instilled in me a deep commitment to public service," Kennedy said in a video announcing his retirement. "Now having spent two decades in politics, my life has taken a new direction and I will not be a candidate for re-election this year."

Leaving public office is said to be as tough on a politician as being yanked from his mother's teat is for a six month old infant. It seems like the recently departed Ted Kennedy both instilled and distilled his son.

Okay, it is down to one last Senator. The entire Republican Caucus is already a “NO!” vote. The only remaining hold out is Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska. He is holding holding out his vote to end debate and bring this steamy, stinkin’ pile of excrement to a vote in the Senate. If this thing passes, it will go over to the house and get rubber-stamped by a simple vote and sent up to the president for his signature. There won’t be a conference because they are too focused on passing something — anything — that they would legalize armed robbery just to say they passed a “health care reform bill”.

Now get your smelling salts handy, because I know you think I am asking you to contact Ben Nelson and beg him to vote to end debate.

I am not the only Liberal/Progressive Democrat wanting this monstrosity to fail. I probably have a vastly different reason than most of you for wanting it to fail, but the point is, there are some certain times when both the Left AND the Right can actually get together and agree to oppose something — even if it is for different reasons.

This is one of those times.
I am all for health care reform. I am even for Single Payer much like what I enjoy up here in Canada right now. I know it could never happen in the US, so I would be quite happy with opening up Medicare to everyone and charging a sliding scale. But that would be for a different discussion — not THIS discussion. The point here is to make sure that the CURRENT Senate bill does not become law.

My reasons are fairly simple: It is nothing more than a shakedown of the American people and a gift to the insurance companies. The only thing it does is makes it a law for you to purchase health insurance from a private insurance company. There are no price controls — if they want to charge a single person $1500 per month for a “pre-existing” condition (which could include acne as a child) they can.

All of the back and forth over the past several months about “Public Options”, and all that rot, was just a smoke screen. The current bill is the exact deal that the Obama Administration negotiated in secret with the drug companies and insurance companies back in August.

I know most of you can’t stand Glenn Greenwald, but maybe this time you should read HIS take on this. Liberals and Progressives are furious — at least those who are starting to realize what has been going on.

I know none of YOU want this bill to pass. Very few of us on the Left want it to pass in this form also. We need to get together and make sure it doesn’t.

So contact Ben Nelson. TELL him that you want him to stand strong and NOT vote to bring this thing to a vote.

Former Rep. William Jefferson, a Democrat who had represented parts of New Orleans, was accused of accepting more than $400,000 in bribes and seeking millions more in exchange for brokering business deals in Africa.

It took jurors five days to reach a decision after an eight-week trial. Most of the trial was government testimony. The defense wrapped up its case in a matter of hours.

The feds had Jefferson on tape brokering bribes. Of course the liberal MSNBC (I refuse to give them a link) tried to emphasize that he was found innocent of five bribery charges involving the $90,000 in cold cash recovered from his freezer, but he was found guilty of conspiring to pay other bribes involving African government officials.

Now Jefferson can keep his ass in the icebox so his federal bunk buddy has something cool to slip into at night.

Macon Phillips, the White House Director of New Media, wants "fishy" communications that disagree with the official position of Obongo the Circus President to be sent to the White House.

Phillips specifically targeted private, unpublished, even casual speech, writing that "rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation." Phillips wrote "If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

So if you blow in your father-in-law for casually criticizing the proposed health care bill over Sunday dinner, the White House will...

If Henry Gates had taken thirty seconds to produce his driver's license, this whole series of events would have never occurred. And if it actually had been a burglary in progress and the responding officers walked away without checking ID there would be hell to pay as screams of incompetent, uncaring racist cops would issue forth from this idiot and his race baiting play pals.

But the officer who responded to the call isn't accepting Obama's uninformed criticism.

It is a waste of the officer's time to think you are somehow "special" and the cops have to kiss your ass to get you to cooperate.

Read the 2007 federal UCR murder victimization and offender tables, it ain't honky crackers shooting up the 'hood. Although Blacks accounted for only 12.8% of the US population in 2007, they accounted for 49% of 2007 murder victims and 38% of all murder offenders. To shed a little more light on these charges of racism, look at the 2007 murders where the sex and race of both the victim and the offender are known. Blacks murdering whites is double the rate of whites murdering blacks (16% v. 8%).

Let me spell it it out anyone who is racially myoptic, let's do the math:
For the 3,587 white persons murdered in 2007, 566 (16%) were killed by a black offender.
For the 3,221 blacks who were murdered, 245 (8%) of the killers were white.

Victim/offender breakdowns within the same racial groups are not all that different.
White on white murders account for 81% of all white persons murdered in 2007.
Black on black murders account for 90% of all black persons murdered in 2007.

Obama stated that there must be a frank, honest discussion about racial matters in this country. I welcome those discussions. But first let us lay out the groundwork. Blacks are more likely to be murdered at a rate that is 658% greater than that of whites. And the overwhelming majority of those murders will be committed by persons of their own race.

The ratio of white homicide victims per 100,000 white people is 2.9 ... (6,948 white homicide victims out of a total 2007 white population estimated at 243,248,000).

The ratio of black homicide victims per 100,000 black people is 18.8 ... (7,316 black homicide victims out of a total 2007 black population estimated at 38,920,000).

This is completely unacceptable. This is beyond insanity.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson should be screaming from the rooftops for blacks to stop killing their brothers.

The House of Representatives just crapped all over every American taxpayer. The cap and trade penalty bill didn't pass by much but pass it did.

If you are concerned as I am about the future of this country, perhaps you can draw a little comfort from the words of Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe :

"Between the years of 1998 and 2005, I was the only member of the United States Senate who would take on what I call ‘the Hollywood elitists’ and the United Nations on this hoax called global warming and I went through seven years of purgatory on that issue.

“But now I’ve been redeemed and the vast majority of the scientific community has now said Inhofe’s right and the United Nations is wrong and those individuals … have now said ‘no, the science is not there and these are natural cycles.”

Inhofe promises that this bill will die in the Seante. The Democrats dod not have enough votes to break an anticipated filibuster by the Republicans, but he also said that:

all the hubbub in the House was over Pelosi’s desire to attend a conference in Copenhagen and be able to stand up and say, “Oh, we’ve passed this out of the House and we’re going to lead the way in America but it’s not going to pass the Senate.”

[...]“MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the Wharton School of Economics came out with an analysis of what this is. They said that the range is between $330 and $350 billion a year. That translates in Oklahoma to $3,200 per family. Everyone who’s reading this story right now, that would be a tax increase of over $3,000 per family. I can give you all the documentation on that.”

Hopefully what Inhofe says will come to pass.

I'm Really Really Ticked

The more I think about it the more pissed off I get.

Those sons of bitches in Congress want to give away $700 billion as a reward to gross incompetence, greed, and probably every other evil even slightly related to ineptitude and we're supposed to go along with the program.

For the first time in my adulthood I got pissed enough to send emails to everybody, even to retiring Rep. Jim Walsh and the two Democratic senators of this State - Schumer and Clinton - yelling at them at how pissed I am and dontyoudaregiveacenttothosecrooks.

I yelled at them for shoving their thumbs up their asses while this pot was boiling for the past few years.

I am so sick of the current crop of politicians running around like Chicken Little screaming "Wall Street Is Falling!" Wall Street is not the entire US economy. There are banks right here where I live that are doing just fine because they don't get involved in high risk investments.

And it is high risk investments that have soured that is the cause of this mess.

I have spent most of my adult life trying to avoid debt. My wife and I scrimped and saved and just plain did without for the first twenty years of our marriage - living on a cop's salary and whatever I did on the side wasn't easy but we did it.

Our home mortgage was paid off in sixteen years. I helped my kids through college with cash - no loans - by busting my ass. The only debt we owe right now is two car loans. We have no oustanding debt for plastic - if it can't be paid for at the end of the month we don't buy it.

WHY THE HELL SHOULD I PAY FOR OTHER PEOPLE"S MISTAKES/STUPIDITY??

I do not live like a high roller Wall Street financier. We stay strictly within our means. Right now I am afraid to call my financial advisor to see what happened to our 401k's.

And the politicians want me to pay for this bullshit.

I normally avoid all cussing, but I am beside myself...

It's too bad the Republicans can't call a tow operator and get Charlie Rangel's ass towed out of Congress. In the New York Post, Daphne Retter reports:

WASHINGTON - Embattled Rep. Charles Rangel's Mercedes-Benz was towed yesterday from the House of Representatives parking space he had been using for years in violation of congressional rules. As a tow truck pulled away the 1972 silver sedan under the watchful eyes of five Capitol police officers, House Republicans voted almost unanimously to oust the Harlem Democrat from his chairmanship of the powerful Ways and Means Committee in the midst of several ethics scandals.

The measure, however, failed.

Rangel refused to answer questions about the car, whose registration expired in 2004 and which has sat in the House garage, covered with a tarp and bearing no plates.

And the media is more concerned about Todd Palin telling them to go piss up a rope than this lying, conniving politician who cheats on his taxes while making the rest of us pay to support his Mercedes. Now he owes taxes on about $5,000 worth of free parking. Hook his ass outta there.

Already under fire for his tax troubles, Manhattan Congressman Charles Rangel really put his foot in his mouth on Friday. In a CBS 2 HD exclusive interview Rep. Rangel called Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin "disabled." The question was simple. Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity.

The answer was astonishing. "You got to be kind to the disabled," Rangel said.

That's right. The chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled -- even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: "You got to be kind to the disabled?

Rangel: "Yes."

CBS 2 HD: "She's disabled?"

Rangel: "There's no question about it politically. It's a nightmare to think that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live.

Republicans think Rangel's comments are insulting as well as shocking.

"Charlie Rangel's comments are clearly disgraceful," Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. "This is just another liberal Democrat who can't accept an independent woman running for president."
