Muslim chaplain 'smuggled' box-cutter blades into jail

A city Department of Correction Muslim chaplain who served 14 years in prison for murder and robbery was arrested today for carrying three utility blades and a pair of scissors into a lower Manhattan jail — the latest in a series of black eyes for that facility, authorities said.

The chaplain, Zulqarnain Abdu-Shahid, had the utility blades and scissors in his duffel bag when he arrived at the Manhattan Detention Complex in the morning, according to the city Department of Investigation.

The dangerous items were found after an X-ray machine alerted correction officers to the presence of metal in the bag, the DOI said.

[...]Abdu-Shahid was hired as a Muslim imam chaplain by the DOC three years ago tomorrow, and has a salary of $49,471 annually.

State Corrections Department records show that he entered state prison in September 1979 to begin serving a sentence of 15-years-to-life for a second-degree murder and a first-degree robbery committed in Manhattan. He was paroled in August 1993, and finished his parole in August 2001.

According to news accounts at the time, the cleric, a Brooklyn resident then known as Paul Pitts, was convicted with three other defendants in 1979 after the longest criminal trial in New York State Supreme Court history – one year, three months and three days. Pitts and his co-defendants had held up a Harlem supermarket on Dec. 9, 1976, and during the robbery shot and killed a 30-year-old customer named Philip Crawford.

The Post also has learned that his criminal record includes an arrest for sexual assault in Queens, but that case later was dismissed.

Abdu-Shahid’s lawyer, McQueeney, said, "He’s been out of prison since the early ’90s. He’s completely reformed."

Lamaricus Davidson has been found guilty of the murders of Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23.

The incredibly savage crimes of murder, torture, kidnapping and rape occurred in January of 2007. Little, if anything, has been mentioned in the media about the fate of these two white victims at the hands of black fiends. Even the idiots in the local media in Knoxville can't get it right.

They wanted the 4-Runner but wound up taking the lives of a young Knox County couple in brutal fashion, court records made public Friday reveal. "Originally the plan was to do a carjacking," a pal of fatal carjacking suspect Lemaricus Devall Davidson told a federal agent.

It's still not clear why the alleged carjacking confrontation between Channon Christian, 21, her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23, and brothers Davidson and Letalvis Darnell Cobbins turned fatal.

It's not even known yet where the deadly encounter began.

I can't stand the political correctness of the media when it reports black on white crime. The race of the suspects isn't mentioned anywhere in the article.

It wasn't a confrontation - that's like an argument. Example: "It's eight o'clock, go to bed, honey'" says Daddy. "Hell no!," says little seven -year old Shelly as she empties a shotgun into her father's chest.

It wasn't an encounter - that's a chance meeting. Example: Fred encountered his old girlfriend Selma as he slowly strangled the life out of her mother.

It. Was. A. Crime. Not a confrontation or an encounter. Get it?

Two evil sons of bitches wanted a car that did not belong to them and decided to steal it from someone at gunpoint. They conspired to commit a crime, they planned a course of conduct to accomplish the crime, they proceeded to act in a manner that would facilitate the commission of a crime and they actually committed the crime. That is a crime.

Wait a minute. Maybe if Obongo was President back in January 2007 they could have gotten their own 4 Runner through the Cash-For-Clunkers program. This way they could have carjacked an old wreck without a fuss (no one in hteir right mind would fight to keep a 1982 Dodge Omni) and traded it in on a 4 Runner! Obviously this is another Bushitler related double homicide!

But it ended early Sunday morning in a seedy rental house on Chipman Street, where Christian and Newsom were forced inside at gunpoint, according to state and federal court records.

Newsom was shot, bound and his body wrapped up in bedding and set afire, according to a search warrant application drafted by Knoxville Police Department Investigator Todd Childress.

Perhaps if an ACORN representative was there on Chipman Street, the five black fiends could have been registered to vote. Being empowered by the opportunity to manifest their displeasure with society at the ballot box, they would have just killed the couple without gang raping both of them. Another Cheney related torture would have been averted!

Gee, I wonder if this would be considered rape rape by forensic expert/scientist Whoopie Goldberg.

Police would find his body later that day discarded like trash along nearby railroad tracks. Two days passed before Christian's battered body was found stuffed in a trash can in the Chipman Street house where, records show, Davidson and Cobbins had been living.

These victims (found alongside railroad tracks and inside trashcans) were obviously homeless after their death. Davidson, Cobbins and Boyd were denied the opportunity to provide quality, affordable housing in which to dump their victims. Another travesty committed by the Bushitler regime! If only ACORN had been there; ACORN helps people apply for loans that support various crime scenes such as whore houses filled with illegal aliens! Why not provide government backed loans for housing murdered stiffs?

But despite the obvious linkages to the Bush administration, Knoxville jurors so far have found all of the participants in the Newsome-Christian murders guilty. The latest verdict came two days ago when Lamaricus Davidson was found guilty of murder as well as 34 other charges.

Yesterday the trial went into the penalty phase as the death sentence is on the table for Lamaricus. Of course there are people who feel that Lamaricus should remain alive for, well, whatever reason they can dream up. Listen to this crap:

Foster mother Flo Rudd and group home mother Alice Rhea told jurors Davidson is worth saving despite the fact that he turned to robbery and, ultimately, murder despite their efforts to rescue him from a troubled upbringing.

“He’s my son,” Rhea said. “I love him. He has such potential. If you put him in a structured environment, he does everything he should.

Death is an incredibly structured environment. I also promise that he will do everything he is supposed to do when he is dead. He will decompose, just as he is supposed to.

But there are other advantages:
He will provide employment for the funeral industry.
He will not waste oxygen.
He will not damage the environment by producing CO2.
He will not commit anymore crimes.

"I think he can be an influence to young men for years to come.”

I also think that he will influence other young men for years to come if his execution (public hanging is the preferred choice) is recorded (in HD of course) along with the execution of every other murderer and shown with projection systems 24/7 on the sides of buildings in our nation's high crime areas. He should be executed without delay. Let his victims' next of kin piss on his grave.

It is special because the entire show features our Office and the murder prosecution of Stacey Castor - the Black Widow. She poisoned her two husbands with antifreeze and tried to poison her 17 yr old daughter with alcohol and drugs and then blame the other two deaths on her daughter. This woman has no soul. We Can Wait A Little While Longer

The US Supreme Court has refused to give convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal a new trial. Instead, he must spread the rest of his life in prison. From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a bid today for a new trial for Mumia Abu-Jamal, who has been on death row for more than 25 years for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.

Abu-Jamal and his lawyers had been hoping for a new trial based on their contention that prosecutors unfairly excluded African-Americans from his jury during his 1982 trial.

I was not aware that truth must be established by a multiracial, multicultural tribunal. A jury of reasonably intelligent, honest men and women is established during voir doire under the guidance of the judge. They are capable of determining whether or not sufficient facts exist to support the accusation of murder. This is nothing more than after action jury manipulation by the defense.

But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, in a 2-to-1 decision last March, refused to order a new trial, but the panel agreed unanimously that his death sentence should been thrown out.

The panel said that Abu-Jamal must either be sentenced to life in prison, or receive a new sentencing trial only on the issue of whether he should be sentenced to death or life in prison.

And I pray God that this time it sticks. But the fat lady hasn't begun to sing yet for this murderous piece of excrement. The Philadelphia District Attorney is trying to have Mumia executed without a new death penalty hearing.

But the epic struggle over the fate of Abu-Jamal, who has become an international symbol in the debate about the death penalty, is not over. The nation's high court is still weighing the state's petition to have his death sentence reinstated.

I cannot imagine how Maureen Faulkner, Officer Faulkner's widow, has been torn over the past 25 years.

Maureen Faulkner, the officer's widow, lives in California. She told the Inquirer she wept when she heard about Monday's decision.

"To think that he will never get a new trial is such a relief for the family and I after 27 years and everything we've gone through," Faulkner said.

Developing

The horrific shootings in Binghamton yesterday were carried out by someone of Asian ancestry who may have been carrying false ID.

Initially identified as Jiverly Voong of Johnson City, an IBM worker who was recently laid off, the suspect may have been using a false identity. Sources at IBM state that Jiverly Voong was never employed there.

There were two handguns recovered at the crime scene that were registered to Voong. I very much doubt that Voong is an assumed name since there is a pretty thorough vetting that occurs during the background check conducted for a NY weapons permit. But perhaps Voong's identity was used by the gunman?

There are other sources who state that Voong worked at a Shop Vac factory and was a loner. One man who worked with Voong states that:

[...] he and a buddy used to joke about how they thought Voong "would come in mad one day and shoot people. He seemed like that kind of guy."

[...] another former Shop Vac employee, said Voong "kept to himself but made some of off-the-wall comments like he wanted to kill the President."

There is frequently a bit of fog surrounding investigations like this so be prepared to have some time pass before all the players and their roles are made completely known.

The Black Widow

This week we had two murder trials in progress at the same time in our office. The Collins trial ended yesterday with a guilty verdict and the Castor trial is still underway. Castor is a real piece of work.

She has allegedly killed two husbands by poisoning them with antifreeze. When forensic examinations indicated that their deaths were actually murder, she was arrested. Two weeks after her arrest, she tried to divert suspicion by poisoning her own daughter, Ashley Wallace, in a faux suicide attempt complete with a suicide note where Ashley admitted that she killed her father.

These murders and attempt murder occurred over a seven year period; her first husband, Michael Wallace, died in 2000, her second husband, David Castor, died in 2005. She has not been charged in the murder of her first husband. From WSYR:

The 41-year-old Castor, of Clay, faces a maximum of 25 years to life if convicted of second-degree murder in the August 2005 death of her husband David.

She's also accused of trying to kill her 21-year-old daughter, Ashley Wallace, with an overdose of drugs and vodka in September 2007.

The defense rested this afternoon after the Onondaga County DA, Bill Fitzpatrick, tore Castor a new one during his cross examination. We just watched part of the trial on News Channel 10. Castor admits that she didn't see her daughter, Ashley, for 17 hours (after she poisoned her). The next time she saw her, Ashley was being carried out by the ambulance crew and she was drooling.

Bill jumped in with both feet; "And this normal? So she was drooling normally? You have two husbands who died from being poisoned and your daughter was drooling normally?"

The summations are Monday. Perhaps the jury will start deliberations on Tuesday.
This gives a nice overview of the case.

I believe this woman, Stacey Castor, has no soul.

OJ Can't Dodge This One

OJ is toast. The 61 year old murder who should have been on death row thirteen years ago is now going to be sentenced for kidnapping and armed robbery.

A Las Vegas jury did what an LA jury refused to do, actually listen to the evidence and arrive at a just verdict.

Also, the Las Vegas District Attorney, David Roger, did something that the LA DA's refused to do, put a prosecuting attorney (DA Rogers himself) on the case who actually knew what the hell he was doing. Sorry Marsha Clark, you were waaaay over your head and you blew it.

And the verdict came out exactly thirteen years to the day after he was acquitted of killing his ex-wife and her friend.

A jury in the western U.S. state of Nevada has found former American football star O.J. Simpson guilty on charges of robbery and kidnapping. The verdict comes 13 years after he was acquitted for the murder of his former-wife and her friend. VOA's Gabe Joselow reports from Washington.

Simpson and a co-defendant, Clarence Steward, were convicted on all 12 counts against them, including armed robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy.

Arkansas Politics

Some wingnut blew into the office of the Arkansas Democratic Party and shot the State Chairman.

Bill Gwatney, the chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party, has been murdered.

A man barged into the Arkansas Democratic eadquarters and opened fire Wednesday, fatally shooting the state party chairman before speeding off in his pickup. Police later shot and killed the suspect after a 30-mile chase.

Police said they don’t know the motive for the 51-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released. However, they said moments after the shooting, he pointed a handgun at the building manager at the nearby the Arkansas Baptist headquarters. He told the manager “I lost my job,” said Dan Jordan, a Baptist convention official.

Chairman Bill Gwatney died four hours after the shooting. The 48-year-old former state senator had been planning to travel to the Democratic National Convention later this month as a Hillary Clinton superdelegate.

Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, issued a statement calling Gwatney “not only a strong chairman of Arkansas’ Democratic Party, but he is also a cherished friend and confidante.”

Dang, but it seems dangerous to be a Clinton supporter in that state.

Domestic Murder

Every now and then you catch a grounder. A weird, sick grounder, but a grounder nonetheless.

Two days ago in a neighboring town, a young man shot and killed both his parents, dismembered his father and stuffed their bodies into a septic tank. He then later wandered down to the Sheriff's headquarters where he confessed to the double murder.

Syracuse, NY -- The couple found Tuesday in a septic tank at an Elbridge home died of multiple gunshot and shotgun wounds, the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office said today.

The office also officially identified the couple as Joseph and Jo-Ellen Bisesi, the residents of the home at 5879 Sandbank Road.

Scene investigation, autopsy and radiographic studies were used in the determination of the cause of death, the medical examiner's office said.

All the remains of the couple were recovered, the medical examiner said. The Bisesis' son, Joseph Bisesi III, has been charged with first-degree murder in the slayings.

In court papers filed about midnight Tuesday at Elbridge Town Court, Bisesi was accused of killing his parents by shooting them multiple times and then disposing of the bodies in the home's septic tank.

He had removed the limbs from his father's body, but the torso was found protruding from the septic system, state police said.

I can't wait to hear what his attorney dreams up for his defense. He ran out of yeast cakes?

Polonium 210 - The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Just when you thought it was safe to comment on the murder of Alexander Litvinenko.

WASHINGTON - FBI agents say they are assisting police in suburban Washington who are investigating the shooting of a Russian expert — a man who spoke out on "Dateline NBC" last weekend and strongly suggested that remnants of the KGB were responsible for the bizarre poisoning death of Alexander Litvinenko.

The Russian expert, Paul Joyal, was shot Thursday night as he got out of his car in front of his house in Adelphi, Md. Investigators in Prince Georges County say a witness claims to have seen two men running away after the shooting. Joyal remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the midsection. Authorities have not said whether they've been able to talk to him.

It could have been worse. They could have poured him a cup of tea.

On last weekend's "Dateline," he said of Litvenenko's death: "A message has been communicated to anyone who wants to speak out against the Kremlin: 'If you do, no matter who you are, where you are, we will find you and we will silence you — in the most horrible way possible.'"

Deja vue all over again. And the action also picked up on the other side of the pond.

In an odd twist, another person who appeared on the "Dateline" broadcast died of a heart attack last month. Reporter Daniel McGrory of the Times of London, who has written about the Litvinenko case, died Feb. 20, before the "Dateline" segment was broadcast. He was 54. His family said he "died suddenly at home." He was a veteran British foreign correspondent who had reported from several war zones. Just before his death, he had been reporting in Pakistan.

When I hear of an "odd twist" I usually think of two women wearing the same dress to an event, or a math whiz flunking an English test. But two people who appear on the same show criticizing former KGB agents suffer death or near death within a short time of each other?

If a dead gazelle shows up in the jaws of a leopard, is that an "odd twist?"

Another One Lost

As your kids grow up you see them learn from their experiences what the world is like and the decisions that people make that lead to tragedy. Sometimes it is an accident, a rare mishap, that ends a life. Other times it is a series of what the shrinks call bad behaviors (I call it character or lack thereof) that will cut short a life.

As I walked into the kitchen this morning to grab a cup of coffee, my daughter looked up from reading the paper and said, "He's dead. Someone shot Xavier." I couldn't even begin to guess who this was until she explained it to me.

Xavier Scott, 21, is a young black man that went to my daughter's high school. He did not graduate, instead finishing up at a center for troubled youth. My daughter knew him as he dated a friend of hers for several years.

Xavier's clueless mother, Shirely Mitchell, said that she had no idea that her son was having any trouble with anyone lately despite the fact that this is the second time that Xavier has been shot in the past four months. Last October he was shot in the leg.

NYC Plans To Honor Cop Killer

On December 9th, 1981, a 25 year old Philadelphia police officer by the name of Daniel Faulkner pulled over a Volkswagen driving the wrong way on Locust Street. In a few minutes, Officer Faulker was dead.

As Danny attempted to handcuff William Cook, Mumia Abu-Jamal ran from across he street and shot the officer in the back. Danny turned and was able to fire one shot that struck Abu-Jamal in the chest; the wounded officer then fell to the pavement. Mumia Abu-Jamal stood over the downed officer and shot him four more times at close range, once directly in the face.

Mumia Abu-Jamal was found still at the scene of the shooting by officers who arrived there within seconds. The murderer was slumped against the curb in front of his brother's car. In his possession was a .38 caliber revolver that records showed Mumia had purchased months earlier. The chamber of the gun had five spent cartridges. A cab driver, as well as other pedestrians, had witnessed the brutal slaying and identified Mumia Abu-Jamal as the killer both at the scene and during his trial.

It's not as if there was a lot of confusion over identifying the suspect, or questions of violating his constitutional rights during a rigorous interrogation. The dude was there, he shot the cop and was himself shot in return. More on the specific actions of Officer Faulkner's killer.

Officer Faulkner was able to draw his gun and fire one return shot at his assailant, Mumia Abu-Jamal. This bullet was later extracted from Mr. Jamal's upper abdomen. Having fired this shot, Officer Faulkner fell to the sidewalk. While the wounded officer lay helpless and unarmed on his back, Mr. Jamal was seen by four individuals standing over the Officer with his five shot, .38 caliber Charter Arms revolver in his hand. From approximately 3 feet, Jamal began to fire at the officer's upper body.

That's four witnesses who testified that Abu-Jamal (real name Wesley Cook, he was the older brother of the man Officer Faulkner was trying to arrest) shot Officer Faulkner. If four people who by coincidence happen to be in the same approximate location and witness a crime, it behooves any cop in his right mind to slam the cuffs on whomever they point their finger at.

Officer Faulkner is believed to have been conscious at this point and to be looking up at his assailant, who was later identified by several people at the crime scene as Mumia Abu Jamal. It's believed that in an attempt to save his life, Faulkner began to roll from side to side as Jamal fired at him. Jamal missed his first several shots. He then moved closer to Faulkner and bent down over him. Mr. Jamal put the muzzle of his gun within inches of Officer Faulkner's face, and squeezed off the final, and fatal, shot. The bullet entered the officer's face slightly above the eye and came to rest in his brain, killing him instantly.

This is death penalty territory. No need to go any further. Please go here to sign the petition against naming a Harlem street after this piece of unrepentant filth.

There is no reason whatsoever for this waste of oxygen to still be alive today. Yet there are those who disbelieve witnesses and a court reviewed sentence.

Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested at the scene.
He couldn't flee, he had been shot in the chest.
Sucking chest wounds discourage flight.
The weapon was recovered at the scene.
He bought the gun.
He registered the gun.
The gun was his.
Officer Faulkner was shot five times.
The gun was fired five times.
Four witnesses testified that Abu-Jamal shot Officer Faulkner.
Four witnesses testified that Officer Faulkner shot Abu-Jamal.
One witness, Robert Chobert, was directly behind Officer Faulkner's car.
Bullet fragments were "consistent" with the Charter Arms that Abu-Jamal was carrying.

Sometimes all you get are fragments, depending on the type of ammunition, distance to the target and what the slug passes through before coming to rest. The notion of a perfectly formed (or deformed into a "mushroom") bullet is not that common. I was a crime scene specialist, an evidence technician, for eight years. I've recovered quite a number of bullets under many different circumstances. Sometimes even a bullet that seems remarkably whole to the naked eye is difficult to impart to a specific firearm due to irregularities in the rifling striations.

If the bullets passed through Officer Faulkner's body and hit the pavement or other hard object (see the crime scene map here, remember it is not a sketch and is not draw to scale), there could be sufficient damage to the projectiles as to render them useless for a 100% certainty match to the firearm.

It makes my head hurt, but I sometimes try to understand how a convicted murderer like Abu-Jamal attracts such a freakishly dedicated flock of jackasses who maintain his innocence despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. But this is standard operating procedure for moonbats. Any means that will revoke or weaken the rule of law, specifically laws that they don't like, is to be pursued.

Wild assed conspiracies seem to be the mother's milk of liberals. They just happened to latch on to this insane Mumia titty and are working it for all it's worth. The efforts to have a street named after Abu-Jamal are an attempt to legitimize his protestations of unfair treatment at the bar.

This is a list of the lunatic conspiracies that the liberals insist denied their murderous poster child a fair trial. Some of them are:

1) The bullet that killed Officer Faulkner was a .44 caliber bullet, while Jamal's gun was a .38 caliber.

Wrong, just.... so wrong. There was never any evidence that another weapon was used. Police backup was there in minutes as Officer Faulkner had previously called in for assistance. Mumia's revolver was recovered at the scene with the spent cartridges still in the gun.

2) Several "eyewitnesses" saw someone else shoot Officer Faulkner and then escape up an alley.

Where are these witnesses? Obviously the Philadelphia Police Department's "Witness Intimidation Unit" has successfully kept these people silenced for over 25 years. These cops are amazing. Long after they are retired or dead they continue to scare the crap out of people.

3) Mumia Abu-Jamal was denied his right to self representation, in violation of his Constitutional Rights. Mumia Abu-Jamal's court appointed attorney was admittedly incompetent and incapable of mounting a defense on Jamal's behalf.

Can't have it both ways. Either mount your own incompetent defense or let the State do it for you.

4) The ballistics evidence used to convict Mumia Abu-Jamal was flawed. The police failed to test Jamal's hands to see if he had recently fired a gun and they never "sniffed" Jamal's gun to see if it had been fired.

This one is actually funny. Of all the guns I remanded to the crime lab, I never sniffed a one because I didn't want to get my sniffer blown all to hell. You treat every gun as if it is loaded. That means keeping your nose and all other body parts well away from the business end of the thing.

The whole ridiculous mess needs to be flushed. Just like Mumia's internal organs after the prison doctor performs the post-execution autopsy.

Last year, a street in the Paris suburb of St. Denis was named after the murderer of Officer Faulkner. The April 29 ceremony was hosted by the city of St. Denis and its mayor, Didier Paillard. It appears that this was an attempt to placate the seethin' heathen hordes of Muslims who trashed this suburb in the riots of 2005. From Fox News, November 3, 2005:

In both the New York Post and the Syracuse Post Standard, we are told that four US soldiers, one of them Pfc. Shawn P. Falter, 25, of Homer, N.Y., were murdered in an ambush by terrorists on January 20th. Homer is a town about 20 miles south of Syracuse.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — In perhaps the boldest and most sophisticated attack in four years of warfare, gunmen speaking English, wearing U.S. military uniforms and carrying American weapons abducted four U.S. soldiers last week at the provincial headquarters in the Shiite holy city of Karbala and then shot them to death.

In response, all terrorists in U.S. custody will be forced to wear their underpants on their heads for a week. Clean skivvies will be issued each day, of course, to prevent excessive patchouli build up.

The U.S. military confirmed a report earlier Friday by The Associated Press that three of the soldiers were dead and one was mortally wounded with a gunshot to the head when they were found in a neighboring province, about 25 miles from the compound where they were captured. A fifth soldier was killed in the initial attack on the compound.

This will not decrease the liberals' outcry against "imperialistic" U.S. actions in the Middle East. This will hardly get any attention at all in the MSM. As you read the bird dropping catcher known as the Post Standard, it sounds like the US is at fault for this atrocity. Did you catch how the AP reporters noticed the boldness and sophistication of the attack?

The new account contradicted a U.S. military statement on Jan. 20, the day of the raid on an Iraqi governor's office, that five soldiers were killed "repelling" the attack.

So the news here is that the US military contradicted itself, not the bloody-minded business of murdering captives. Then this:

The security breakdown and the dramatic kidnapping and murder of four soldiers leaked out just as President Bush faces stiffening congressional opposition over his plan to flood Baghdad and surrounding regions with 21,500 more American troops. Two of Congress's most vocal war critics, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. John Murtha, were in the Iraqi capital as the news broke.

Again, the news is not the outrageous behavior of terrorists, but security breakdowns, opposition to the war and critics of the President's policies. Garbage coverage.

As you read this trash you'll get a notion that these reporters get a charge out of negative news from Iraq for they write of nothing else. I checked back to July 2003 on Hurst (68 articles) and July 2005 on Abdul-Zahra (59 articles). All but a few were negative reports.

Contrast this with what the NY Post has to say:

Four U.S. soldiers, one of them a New Yorker, were captured - and promptly murdered - last Saturday in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, 50 miles from Baghdad, officials confirmed.

Two of the slain soldiers were found handcuffed together in the back of a vehicle.

The soldiers were murdered after being captured. Their bodies were found miles away from where they were taken. This is the money quote:

But the murder of disarmed and helpless troops - killing POWs, in effect - is what's at issue here.

[...] The murder of helpless captives is a stark reminder of the barbaric nature of the enemy that American-led forces face in Iraq. Indeed, it puts into perspective the complaints about U.S. "atrocities" committed against prisoners at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib.

Frankly, complaints about degrading photos and alleged desecration of the Koran can't hold a candle to the savage abduction and execution-style murders of brave soldiers.

Those who have led the outcry over what they hysterically decry as U.S. "war crimes" in Iraq have a particular obligation to speak out against genuine atrocities of the kind committed by these terrorist insurgents.

Their failure to do so will only serve to confirm their actual motive: not to hold America to the highest moral standard, but to undermine the U.S. effort and ensure a Vietnam-style defeat in Iraq.

You'll find nothing like this from the AP.

The enemy has one one Rule Of Engagement; kill every man, woman and child who does not support them. There are no circumstances too despicable for these animals. And no atrocity so evil that it can't be overlooked and/or spun by the liberals.

ABC News reports that the Brit cops have finally found the receptacle that delivered ex-Russian KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko his minimum daily requirement of Polonium 210.

British officials say police have cracked the murder-by-poison case of former spy Alexander Litvinenko, including the discovery of a "hot" teapot at London's Millennium Hotel with an off-the-charts reading for Polonium-210, the radioactive material used in the killing.

I really can't think of an excuse for why it took so long for them to find it. Just turn off the lights and see what glows, no?

A senior official tells ABC News the "hot" teapot remained in use at the hotel for several weeks after Litvinenko's death before being tested in the second week of December. The official said investigators were embarrassed at the oversight.

Whoever was in charge of the crime scene should have his ass booted up over his ears.

British health officials say some 128 people were discovered to have had "probable contact" with Polonium-210, including at least eight hotel staff members and one guest.

No definitive word yet on where these people may have come in contact with the radioactive teabags. Now we have to add another variation of tea: white, green, oolong, black and nuclear.

There obviously has been some intensive work done after the initial bungling. Brit investigators traveled to Russia for interviews and a prime suspect has been identified.

The official says investigators have concluded, based on forensic evidence and intelligence reports, that the murder was a "state-sponsored" assassination orchestrated by Russian security services.

Officials say Russian FSB intelligence considered the murder to have been badly bungled because it took more than one attempt to administer the poison. The Russian officials did not expect the source of the poisoning to be discovered, according to intelligence reports.

Most murders don't. If this was done by old school KGB'ers, perhaps they just didn't care whether or not they were found out. Nothing would ever came of it anyway. Perhaps they are wrong, we'll see.

Sources say police intend to seek charges against a former Russian spy, Andrei Lugovoi, who met with Litvinenko on Nov. 1, the day officials believe the lethal dose was administered in the Millennium Hotel teapot.

Lugovoi steadfastly denied any involvement in the murder at a Moscow news conference and at a session with Scotland Yard detectives. Russian security police were present when the British questioned Lugovoi, and British officials do not think they received honest answers from him.

The Brits may issue a warrant for him, but it is doubtful that it will be served. Lugovoi was in Moscow hospital when the brit cops came looking for him. From a Dec. 6, 2006, ABC News article:

British detectives had just arrived in Moscow when they were told they could not see the man they consider their prime suspect, former KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi. He was unavailable, hospitalized with signs of radiation poisoning, Russian officials said.

Russia's top prosecutor said the British could not speak with any witnesses on their own and could not extradite them to Britain if they're charged. Senior British official told ABC News the Russian government is obstructing the investigation, even as more and more signs point to Russia and Lugovoi.

ABC News has reconstructed Lugovoi's movements from Moscow to London, right up to the day he met Litvinenko at a London hotel, and found a trail of deadly polonium 210.

If this gets embarassing enough for the Russians, perhaps Andre will have himself a little accident. I'd be real careful of what I drank. Someone may drop a teapot on him.
