Old Guys

Seniors. Old guys. Grey hairs. Codgers.
Whatever you call us, don't piss us off. Especially in Switzerland:

BIEL, Switzerland – Swiss police say they may have to change tactics in their hunt for a fugitive gunman who shot and seriously wounded one officer in the western city of Biel.

Police commander Francois Gaudy told reporters Friday that officers had tried to avoid bloodshed "but this doctrine has its limits."

Public anger in Switzerland is growing after police failed to apprehend 67-year-old Peter Hans Kneubuehl two days after he barricaded himself at home in a dispute over the house's sale.

After holing up in the house Wednesday, Kneubuehl opened fire at police early Thursday and then successfully fled even as police surrounded the house.

Some 100 police officers including SWAT teams, dog handlers and a helicopter equipped with heat-detecting cameras have been deployed to search for the man.

Sig,

Considering your "About Me" statement to the right --->
you would all most seem to be rooting for this guy?

Doesn't everyone have an escape tunnel ?

Chris - just prodding those who are supposed to know what they are doing. There is no way in hell this guy should have gotten away from custody, "doctrine" or no doctrine. All it takes is two or three cops near the corners of the residence to maintain vigil while the rest of the troops amass. I have seen much of Teh Stoopid™ over the years and it never ceases to amaze me.

Kid - working on it.

Ah, European police tactics. I wonder how they'd do in an actual war. Never mind. I already know.

Nickie - Today I just got through going over some literature on "active shooter" training. This started after Columbine but has not perculated all the way through the LE community yet. The Swiss were using police tactics that were developed almost fifty years ago. These tactics have been discarded by just about every large PD in the US.
