I scored two tickets to a performance of the Syracuse Symphony tonight. One of my supervisors couldn't make it and gave me his box seats. Box seats! Sweet. Me and the Mrs. had a freebie night out.
The first two pieces were so-so: Rounds for Strings by David Diamond (tedius), Percussion Concerto by Jennifer Higdon (sounded like really noisy menstrual cramps) and after the intermission, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 (awesome!).
For a city the size of Syracuse it is unusual to have a symphony orchestra as good as the one we have. We are really blessed.
